Spotify Blends Podcasts and Music With Its New Original Shows

Spotify has launched a new type of show that combines narration and music. This listening experience makes it easy to enjoy the commentary and discover more about the music in a single place.

Spotify Launches a New Audio Experience

As announced on For the Record, Spotify has launched a brand-new audio experience that combines music and talk content.

You play it like you would any other podcast. The difference is that when a song starts playing within the podcast, Spotify displays all the information about the track and artist as if you were playing the song separately.

You can like, save, and share that song directly from the player without having to navigate out of the podcast.

Simply press Explore Episode on the episode page or tap the play bar to bring up the episode track list. This allows you move between different sections of the show and analyze the songs used.

This format can primarily be taken advantage of by users with Spotify Premium. They will hear the full songs being played, while those on the free tier will just get a 30-second music preview.

Some Spotify original shows that take advantage of this feature include Rock This With Allison Hagendorf, Our Love Song, and Halleloo Happy Hour With DJ Shangela.

To browse the list of shows that make use of this new format, head over to the Shows with Music hub.

You Can Easily Create These New Audio Experiences

If you want to create one of these podcasts that integrate Spotify music, you can do it simply and for free using Anchor.

Anchor is a free all-in-one platform from Spotify that lets you create, distribute, and monetize your podcast.

Using Anchor, you can create a podcast that blends discussion with music. The great thing is that it will remove the doubt over permission and copyright. Since it links into Spotify, it makes use of the platform’s licensing permissions.

If you’re in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or Ireland, you can add Spotify songs to your show right now.

For full information, check out the Anchor blog.

Share The New Spotify Audio Experiences

It’s always fun to share your new favorite podcasts with friends and family to get them hooked. To help make that easier, Spotify recently launched a new site that lets you generate colorful promo codes. Why not try it out with the recently launched audio experiences?
